Veteran Resources: Thriving After Military Service

At Building Roots Partnerships LLC, we recognize your service, and we're here to provide you with access to veteran-specific and focused organizations to help you get all of the resources you deserve after you've completed your time with the military. We understand many of the unique issues that you may face as a veteran, and it's our duty to put you in touch with the veteran resources and best veteran charities that can help to provide you with the services you need to thrive.

One of the most important aspects of living a happy, successful life after military service for many veterans is connecting with others who are in the same boat. Whether that means working with a veterans foundation to regularly meet with veterans of a similar age, or participating in service projects to help veterans, staying engaged with your military community can be an excellent way to celebrate your service and learn tips and tricks for thriving in the civilian world.

It can also be important to ask for help if you're struggling after military service. Many service members find that it can be tough to deal with trauma that they encountered during military service. There's no doubt that serving requires a certain level of mental toughness, but there's nothing wrong with asking for some help if you're struggling to make the transition to civilian life. If transition issues are not addressed early on, it's possible for problems to pop up years or even decades down the line. It doesn't matter how long it's been since you've served - if you're struggling to enjoy your daily life due to trauma or other issues that happened while you were serving in the military, getting help is a sign of strength.

In addition to talking out any issues that you're having following military service, it can be helpful to keep a regimented daily schedule. Many people who spend decades serving their country find that they thrive when they wake up with a solid schedule and purpose for each day - but this can be tough to maintain if you're retired. Volunteering, getting involved in your community, or getting involved with your church or other place of worship can all be great ways to keep up an active schedule that contributes to the good of the people around you.
