COVID 19 Financial Assistance for Veterans: Assistance you can apply to directly


Are you a military veteran or more recently active service member that has recently experienced financial hardship due to the COVID 19 pandemic? If so, here is a list of resources that you or even your spouse can apply to directly without the struggle of finding a referral.


1. Air Force Aid Society – Military emergency relief programs available for Airmen in need. Falcon Loans can provide emergency financial assistance,

2. Air Warrior Courage Foundation – The Foundation work closely with Red River Valley Fight Pilots Association in Virginia. They serve active duty, guard, reserve, retired military personnel and their families with financial assistance for medical, educational, other extraordinary expenses not covered by current military support systems. https://www.airwarriorcourage.com


3. Army Emergency Relief – Emergency financial assistance organization and dedication to “Helping the Army take care of its Own.” Help with emergency travel, rent or mortgage, appliance maintenance, minor home repairs, food purchases, health care expenses, utilities, initial rent and deposit.

4. Disabled American Veterans – The DAV launched a COVID-19 Unemployment Relief Program. The program was established to provide assistance to service-connect disabled veterans who have lost employment as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic, including veterans who are self-employed as contractors or small business owners

  • Amount: Up to $250 depending on available funds. This relief will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Eligibility:Service-connected disabled veterans who have lost employment as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic are eligible. This includes veterans who are self-employed as contractors or small business owners.

  • Requirements:

Submit a copy of a valid VA identification card or any other proof of service connection from eBenefits.

  1. To verify your hardship, you will need to submit proof of unemployment such as a termination letter or proof that you’ve applied for unemployment benefits. If self-employed, you will need to submit proof of lost income.

5. DoD Hardship Duty Pay – the Department created a new pay authority called “Hardship Duty Pay – Restriction of Movement”, or HDP-ROM, that allows Services to pay up to an additional $1500/month (prorated per day) for members and their families who are impacted during PCS or have to acquire temporary lodging that goes beyond normal TLE limit (which is 14 days) because of COVID-19. 6. Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society – They aim to provide financial, educational, and other assistance to military members, their families, and survivors in need. They use financial and non-financial resources to identify solutions to meet emerging needs and are committed to using their funds responsibly to help the most people. The Society is also providing COVID-19 Rapid Response Loans up to $1,200 for Navy/Marine Active Duty/Veterans. https://www.nmcrs.org

    3. Surviving spouses

Operation Home Front – their programs offer relief by providing critical financial assistance and transitional housing programs, resiliency through permanent housing and caregiver support, and recurring family support to help military families overcome the short-term “bumps in the roads” so they don’t become long-term chronic problems. https://www.operationhomefront.org
